Rightly or wrongly I look at it this way. Personally I think we are stronger in every area apart from central midfield. Vela has added quality to our forward line, Van Persie surely has more chance of playing more games this season than last
I was woken up by my son moving around in his cot at about 5am and the first thought wasn’t to try and get back to sleep as quickly as possible as it usually is, it was ‘what late night drama took place?’ I reached down the side of my bed and grabbed my PDA which was already on the BBC Sport news feed. My blurry eyes saw Berbatov (Man Utd) and Robinho (Man City) ‘oh my word, Man City actually bought him’ I thought to myself. I scanned the rest of the in’s for anything Arsenal and nothing was there. ‘I thought as much, and shut my eyes again.
I managed to stay awake until 11.45pm, the past late nights would not allow me to reach last year 1am stay. There were rumours flying around that we were trying to negotiate a deal with Liverpool for Xabi Alonso and that we had 3 bids turned down for him, that kept me interested a little more.
I said in yesterday’s My Vision that I do not expect anyone to sign for us and it was the case. Some of the comments during the early hours were ridiculous but it is expected in this day an age.
‘Wenger you w****r, get out now’
Wenger has lost it, he is ruining the club’
Were pretty much the type of comments you were likely to read on certain Arsenal blogs.
Rightly or wrongly I look at it this way. Personally I think we are stronger in every area apart from central midfield. Vela has added quality to our forward line, Van Persie surely has more chance of playing more games this season than last. Eduardo is close to full fitness but even ignoring him as he may take a while to come back to full sharpness we have Bendtner and Adebayor who are a year older and hopefully better.
Defensively we have improved. Djourou was on loan last season and was not even an option, this season he looks composed assured and ready to step into the side when needed. This time round we have cover for Gael Clichy, last season we had a 17 year old to come in when Clichy was left out or injured.
Wide players have improved as well, I don’t need to add anything else to what Sami Nasri can achieve for the future, he has shown that already. Eboue looks like he is improving, Theo Walcott can hopefully find the end of last seasons form and establish himself as a first choice winger.
So to THE position, central midfield. Currently our options look like this.

That is 9 potential options for 2 spots in the side. You could argue that not all of those are defensive options but I am not sure that Arsene is looking for an out and out holding player as he proved with his interest in a) wanting to partner Cesc with Diaby and b) his interest in Alonso.
Nasri, Rosicky, Cesc are all very good at running back the opposite direction and I think that is the reason why Wenger has scrapped the ‘Gilberto’ and gone for a box to box tackler like Flamini was and Denilson is.
Had we finished in 5th last season with no hope of winning the league then I would be as fuming as the next man but I actually think we are better equipped this time round.
Forget transfers, forget new midfielders, forget last season. Take a look at this squad and think about the talent we have. The players on the right cannot even make the bench and this does not even include Traore, Barazite, Ramsey and Gibbs.

Are we as weak as some make out?
Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.
Until tomorrow.
