Wenger Song/Toure contradiction / Is Phill leaving?

Quick entry today as I am on the race against time. Time has clearly had a head start this morning as well.

Arsenal talk seems to have shifted from Silvestre to Defensive midfielder once again. All the talk of moving Kolo Toure into midfield has been shot down by the manager.

“Kolo is not a player with special stamina,” said the manager. “He’s more a guy with big explosive power but he’s not a long distance runner. Physiologically he’s not a central midfielder.”

I was hoping to see what Toure could do in that position but I also had the view that he didn’t have the stamina for it. I would quote myself on it but that just looks like I am full of myself.

The one thing I would query is his stamina. Can he run back and forward for 90 minutes, sometimes twice a week?

Sorry, that just kind of slipped out. *wink and point finger thingy*

What I found interesting was this from the boss.

“I’m not under any pressure,” he said. “I feel Diaby will be a fantastic central midfielder, as will Song and Denilson. And we have Fabregas of course.”

Did you catch the contradiction? Didn’t Wenger say that Song couldn’t play in central midfield for the exact same reasons why he said that Toure cannot do the job. Perhaps he just threw the name in to prove that he is not under pressure to buy. But I do not expect to see Song in central midfield for a length of time.

Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill is not a happy chappy after Wenger non comments about Gareth Barry. Like I said yesterday, I didn’t think that Wenger said hardly anything about the over priced England international.

O’Neill said: “I have heard absolutely nothing from Arsene Wenger so I thought his comments really strange — bizarre.

“He doesn’t usually make comments like that. So I accept it must have been a bit of a slip.”

O’Neill obviously hasn’t mastered the art of deception and has fallen into the smoke screen trap. Well, I could be wrong but like I keep saying. I cannot imagine Wenger paying silly billy money for Gareth Barry.

Big Phil may be shown the exit door and the entrance at St James’ Park. Kevin Keegan has declared interest but is aware that some big clubs around Europe are also interested in ‘Swiss Tony’

Senderos is still only 23 years old which seems weird to me. It is like he has been at the club for ages, which I guess he has. I have never seen such a jekyll and hyde player in all my years as a Gooner.

I remember the 0-0 draw with Real Madrid at Highbury and he was immense. A rock. Looked like potentially the best central defender in Europe. Then a week or two later he can trip over his feet and allow the forward a clean run on goal which he pulls them down and gets a red card for his troubles.

Personally I have always rated Djourou higher than him, because there is more to Djourou’s game. But Big Phil was one of the only defensive defenders that we had at the club if that makes sense. One of the old school whack it into the crowd then sprint back into position pointing and organising his defenders.

Whatever happens to Phil, I wish him luck. What is the betting that if he leaves he turns out to be the dogs bollocks and when he plays Chelsea he sticks Drogba firmly in his pocket.

I realised that I didn’t write anything about Liam Brady yesterday and I apologise for that, he is a legend in our history and legends should not be forgotten amongst all the speculation crap.

Well reports suggest that he has been released from (I was about to write prison there) hospital and he is fit and healthy which is great news. Come on son, there are many up and coming stars at the club for you to groom.

I said quick entry but got carried away with things, I am off on holiday and Squid Boy will be taking over, so at least you can get to read some sensible well written stuff and not just random waffle.

Hold on one cotton picking minute! There just happens to be a football match on today, I cannot believe that I almost forgot to write anything about it.

Well it is great that Nasri is available for it. I am going to make a prediction here, I can feel it in me bones. I am going to plump for Adebayor and Van Persie getting on the scoresheet together for the first time in ages and Nasri to continue his early electric performance.

Prediction: Fulham 1 Arsenal 3

Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.
