Wenger said that he would turn down a £135 million bid from City for Cesc but I don’t believe that one for one moment not that I would want him to sell him of course
Good afternoon fellow Gooners out there, the International talk is slowly dying down and the rise of the Premier League is soon in front of us.
Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the press ahead of the Blackburn game and he has said many interesting things that the media are extracting and using to put money into their bank accounts.
I suppose money is a good place to start today with Wenger having his say on the ‘financial doping’ that seems to be on the up these days.
“If you push that too far, there are no rules any more,” said Wenger.
“Once you get to the prices mentioned in the media, where is the logic? There is too much destabilisation.”
“There is money in the game, and I take it in a positive way – but the football bodies have to make sure that money is ruled properly and used well for the ethics of the game.
I was thinking about the whole takeover lark the other day and thought to myself that it appears to give you an advantage to run a club the wrong way. An example of this are the biggest example that you are likely to find. Chelsea football club. They were an average London based club who done well to move their way up the ladder of English football and managed to get into the Champions League they were full of debt, spending more than they could bring in and Ken Bates had no choice but to sell. In comes Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich who poured millions into the club and now they have won trophies and are amongst one of the best teams in Europe.
There are not many teams these days who run the club properly, who survive from their own resources without the need to borrow what they cannot afford. Arsenal are one of these teams and I love them for it. Wouldn’t the game be so much more pure if all teams were run in the same way? Wouldn’t it be refreshing if all teams were on a level playing field?
A good friend of mine has stopped watching football and even supporting Arsenal because of the way the sport is going, as much as I could never stop supporting Arsenal I can understand why he now hates the sport and a huge percentage involved in Football.
Arsene was also critical on the way that new Manchester City owners have used the tactic of unsettling players via the media.
“The rules are there. Let’s get them respected. You cannot come out and say ‘next week we pay £250,000 to Ronaldo and £135m’ when the player has a contract with Manchester United. It’s not possible or acceptable.”

Speaking of midfielders, Arsene Wenger has squashed claims that we are in the running to sign Ghana International Stephen Appiah.
“No, we are not on the case.”
I wish Arsene did that last week.
We are linked to Brazilian midfi…. nah, I am not going there again. No more transfer rumours. Free, out of contract, anything! I’ve had it until December.
We have a run of tricky matches coming up so expect rotation from le boss. I was writing the match preview and I put in Theo in the starting 11 but then read that Wenger is looking to rest Theo which would make sense. We will be looking to find as many fresh players as possible as most of our lads have been away for the past couple weeks.
Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.
Until tomorrow.
