Emmanuel Adebayor will be allowed to join the Togo squad, he hasn’t featured for Arsenal since his injury against Tottenham in early February. He may be treated the same way as Eduardo was when he was on his way back from injury
When I started thinking about writing today’s blog I was hit by the realisation that I have to think about writing something interesting for two weeks without any Arsenal matches being played, ummmm, errr I am not sure if that will happen so I may just charge my batteries on some days. You do not want me writing the same stuff over and over again.
It appears that our lovely newspaper friends are having the same problem so they have decided to run with a comment that Freddie Ljungberg said about Wenger moving to spend more money which is rubbish.
Ljungberg said:
“If he gets a great opportunity somewhere they’ll spend more money and win things, maybe that’s a possibility. At the same time he likes to bring up new players and he has been at Arsenal a long time.
“I know he’s a winner, he always wants to win – just as much as the players. He gets as angry as the players when we lose. When they are not winning, or they are fourth or fifth, I know he is not happy about it.”
I have not heard the full interview and I do not trust quotes in newspapers but as we are talking about it I would like to throw my two pennies worth.
Wenger would not build such a massive squad (including reserves and youth team level) full of young talented players who are making vast amounts of progress to jump ship to a club where he can buy ready made players. Wenger is not a cheque book manager like Benitez or Mourinho. He doesn’t have a paddy when he cannot go out and buy the most expensive player on the market. We all know that is not his style and will never be, Wenger’s strength is finding young unpolished diamonds then filling them with self confidence and showing them the right path.
I fully expect Wenger to sign at least one more contract with Arsenal Football Club. If he doesn’t I will be very surprised.
Emmanuel Adebayor will be allowed to join the Togo squad, he hasn’t featured for Arsenal since his injury against Tottenham in early February. He may be treated the same way as Eduardo was when he was on his way back from injury, a chance to get some match sharpness in a game environment without potentially effecting our results negatively.
Is it just me or do you sometimes send random texts about Arsenal to your chums?
—————————
Who would you play as the lone forward on form? Bendtner or Adebayor?
Well I do! I don’t care if you think its childish, just leave me alone!
The reason I ask, is because I recently sent a text to a few Gooners asking who would you choose at the front of a 4-2-3-1 formation Adebayor or Bendtner? On current form Bendtner is doing very well, improving from game to game but I cannot help but think that Adebayor of last season would bring that extra pace and power that this team could well be missing right now.
We are yet to witness Adebayor having the service of Arshavin behind him, with Cesc’s return just around the corner he could get back to his best. If Adebayor’s attitude is right then is it easy to keep him on the bench?
I can just feel the negative response to that suggestion as I write that.
Rumour has it that Theo Walcott could make his comeback against Manchester City after the International break. Fingers crossed Eduardo, Walcott, Adebayor, Walcott and Cesc should all be included in that squad which is even better as I have a ticket to go to that game.
Arshavin seems to be very happy at Arsenal so far, so much so that he is already thinking of seeing out his career at Arsenal.
Arshavin said:
“The players have been friendly, I feel comfortable with the team. It is too early to make any conclusions, since little time has past, but my contract is long enough. It will probably last until the end of my career.”
This guy is well on the way to becoming a legend at this club. I knew of his talent before he joined us but I thought it would take him until next season to make a real impact on our team. I never envisaged such a positive impact so quickly. When Cesc is back and the team are firing then he will be a top top did I mention top? player!
Anyone heard Van the man’s interview yet? Good stuff. He sounds like a real winner. He certainly sounds much more mature than he did in his earlier days.
I am not going to quote him because I’ll be here all day but you can read it HERE
Goodbye to you all for now, back tomorrow perhaps.
