Home improvements have restricted my Arsenal Vision writing over the last few days but with my new TV stand in place, I will be sitting comfortably watching hopefully a full blooded performance against the black and white stripes this lunchtime.
On Friday night I was twittering around the place and I like many came across the Arsene Wenger story or supposed story. My first thought was that the press if given the chance to will have a field day, my other thought was that it is none of our business. I didn’t even talk about the Wayne Rooney story when it broke out so I am hardly going to go into detail about this and neither should I.
Arsene Wenger has been the best thing to happen to our club for god knows how long so the man deserves our respect at the very least.
However, if I decide to create a http://www.affairsvision.co.uk then I may just write some juicy stories, you just have to buy the Sun, News of the world etc and bingo, there is your content right there. *stops to think if there is actually a business opportunity*
Onto the football, I hear that our Robin Van Persie is set for some Arsenal action this afternoon which is fantastic yet I am a little worried. I will explain that in my pre match thoughts which I will post up shortly.
It is ridiculous that Berty boy has called him up for the Netherlands. It is a bloody friendly for goodness sake surely they have other options to choose from especially knowing what his injury record has been like at the same time it could well benefit us and perhaps some of us, including myself are somewhat understandably cautious about Robin jet setting somewhere else.
He hasn’t played since August against Blackburn Rovers when he Bergkamped a pass through to Theo and obviously he is in need of match fitness. As long as he is not run into the ground then it may just benefit us or am I clutching at straws here?
With Robin back-ish and Tommy V back in a matter of days (a few days ago) it gives a nice bloated feel to the Arsenal squad, a bloated feeling that will give Arsene a selection stomach ache (the other symptom to selection headache)
Wenger’s next job is to get our main players to their best possible physical condition before Walcott suffers from a shoulder problem, or Van Persie twists his ankle or Cesc pulls another hamstring. This remains the problem.
We have to hope that the injury roundabout is halted for a long enough period to have play our best players together. If we can get Vermaelen, Cesc, Song, Van Persie, Walcott and Nasri playing 20 games in a row without set back then I cannot see any other side being able to stop us from getting to where we are aiming for. Our squad is very, very strong but you cannot replace your best players no matter how big your squad is. There is a reason why they are your best players. Best being the operative word.
Whilst 99% of our injury news is very positive the 1% seems a little worrying. Abou Diaby is a concern for Arsene Wenger and judging by Arsene’s tone it could be very bad. His ankle has had a battering since he joined Arsenal and maybe he has taken one Smith, Robinson & Essien tackle too many.
Regular readers of Arsenal Vision will know how much I admire the gangly Frenchman but unfortunately all the ingredients to become amongst the worlds best haven’t been able to intertwine with each other. The great players were allowed to play regular football and develop without any hindrance. Hindrance through injury has been Diaby’s middle name. I cross my fingers that Abou can get back playing again and steer clear of injuries and hopefully show to everyone what he can do.
Ok, have to leave today on a depressing note but come back again for the pre match thoughts.
