West Ham (a) Thoughts & Line Up: Time to turn the corner

You would imagine that Theo Walcott will keep his place in the team for the next few weeks due to his freshness and obvious goal scoring threat even if he was not at his best against Chelsea. Santi Cazorla is likely to start on the left so Tomas Rosicky could keep his place in the team, probably replacing Özil as our furthest attacking player. Even without our record signing, that is a very strong

It has been a long time since Arsenal have gone four fixtures without victory so it is difficult to know how we will respond. Clearly our confidence has taken a dip as our fluency from our game has disappeared somewhat but at some point the team will need to turn that corner, whether it be gradually or after going 1-0 up in a game.

The Hammers have been inconsistent so far this season, they have missed the goals and presence of record signing Andy Carroll. That said they provided us some entertainment by knocking Tottenham out of the cup. No doubt that they will be giving everything to get one over us. What Sam Allardyce team wouldn’t want to get stuck into Arsenal and give big Sam the chance to brag about his tactical genius.

You would imagine that Arsene will use this opportunity to rotate some of his fresher players into the team. Arsene has already stated that he thinks that Özil needs a rest so it will be interesting to see how Arsene sets up the team without him.

Even without our record signing, that is a very strong midfield. In fact it is more or less the attack that started our great run last season.

I wonder if Lukas Podolski could replace Oliver Giroud in attack. Giroud’s power in the air from set pieces will surely come into Arsene’s thinking but his form has dipped a little of late and the German needs games. That said, could we have an argument for Niklas Bendtner starting instead? Bendtner was our only striking option before but now Podolski and even Walcott are options.

Mean Lean’s Predicted Line Up:

Szczesny

Sagna Mertesacker Vermaelen Monreal*

Flamini** Ramsey

Walcott Rosicky Cazorla

Podolski***

* Gibbs

** Arteta

*** Giroud/Bendtner

Three points are an absolute must today, let us get just that.
