Replacing Walcott was a little strange for me also, although hindsight is a wonderful thing to have in your possession
It is a new morning, a new day and the feelings about the team haven’t changed very much. I almost feel like the team have done the dirty on me, going behind my back while I have remained faithful to them. To have so much faith and trust in the squad only to come home early and find the team not interested, not bothered.
I find complacency a real horrible trait to have.
I have an issue with our manager that I would like to get off our chest. Regular readers know that I worship the ground Arsene walks on and there is no better man in charge in my eyes but reading stories about furious he is with the attitude of the players is a little confusing.
Firstly, this is not the only Arsenal team in Arsene’s history to churn out a complacent performance. Secondly what did Arsene say to the players at half time?
It was clear from the very first 5 minutes that the players were not interested let alone after 45 lackluster minutes where the ball was being passed around as if it was a training session. I was sitting at the Emirates at half time thinking to myself, ‘at least the players will have a good kick up the arse by Wenger and should start the second half at full pelt’
Surely talk of Fulham should have been brought up and the speed of passing and movement should have been addressed. Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho would have never had stood for that after 45 minutes.
It wasn’t to be and we know what happened after that.
Replacing Walcott was a little strange for me also, although hindsight is a wonderful thing to have in your possession.
Walcott was having his worst game in quite a few weeks, making wrong decisions, not looking sharp enough at all but the one thing he was doing was penetrating the opposition. He and still is the only real outlet for the team and as he set up the goal I thought keeping him on could have been more productive.
Anyway, I need to move on from this and it is Arsene’s job to remind them but move them on also, we have a tricky Champions League tie against Porto
Oh before I go I feel that I need to congratulate the Hull players and supporters for a fantastic showing at the Emirates. It makes a refreshing change to witness an underdog come to a big club and be so bold in their approach. Not just copying all the media pundits with the whole ‘Arsenal don’t like it up em’ crap that comes out from most of them.
So Wenger is set to make changes for the game on Tuesday would he have rotated the team anyway? Who knows. But it will be interesting to see who will make way. We can expect Bendtner, Song and hopefully Djourou. So what of Silvestre? Is he behind Djourou in the pecking order? Anyway over to you Arsene.
“There were enough ingredients to make me physically sick,” he is quoted in The Sun.
“What we delivered was not good enough and we all know that. There will certainly be changes for Tuesday.
“When you have an opportunity to go top of the Premier League, the very least expected is that you have the correct level of intensity in your concentration right from the start.
“I would say the electric level in our head was not high enough.
“What was most disappointing is that we struggled to score in the first half, finally went 1-0 up, yet still lost the game.
“That is where we were guilty. We worked so hard to get ahead and then we let it go again.
“There will be changes on Tuesday, certainly,” Wenger said. “I will see how many, but there will be changes
I read an interesting stat from Goodplaya 61 corners taken, none scored. 61 corners!!
I was in the stadium on Saturday watching corner after corner being won and watching the crowd cheer in anticipation and after a while I just gave up. Why on earth do we insist on hitting the first defender? Can only Van Persie cross the ball into the penalty area. It must be Arsene Wenger that is instructing the players because we have been doing this for years. We are wasting so many goals and points by sacrificing taking corner kicks.
Right that is it for today, time for me to work. Have a good day and leave a comment.
Until tomorrow.
