What If?

I suppose everything in life can be seen in this way and it is not really worth doing because you have to look forward and correct the problems that have come across you.

I just had a sinking feeling in my stomach when I thought about Theo Walcott’s run and cross. What if that goal was scored in the final second of the game and we would have progressed. It would have given Walcott such a base to continue the season with.

I would like to take the what if saying alot further within reason, well sort of.

What if Jens Lehmann made a simple save at Ewood Park from David Dunn’s shot? He might be in the side now.

What if Robin Van Persie and Tomas Rosicky were ‘normal’ football players and suffered normal injuries. Robin Van Persie could well be our top scorer right about now with Adebayor still adding a hatful of goals to the team.

Imgaine having Tomas Rosicky available on the left wing to link up our football. Rosicky started the season chipping in with goals and could be on 15-20 goals about now. Those 4 draws may have well been 4 victories had Van Persie and Rosicky been fully fit and available for selection.

What if the Emmanuel Adebayor glanced up and squared the ball to Bendtner to tap it in against his former club to make it 3-1 and seal the points for Arsenal.

What if Eduardo did not receive that pass in the Birmingham City game? He was improving game by game, looked full of confidence and was forging a good partnership with Adebayor in Van Persie’s absence.

What if Clichy’s tackle was seen by the referee, instead of giving a last minute spot kick to Birmingham?

What if Bacary Sagna did not suffer his injury against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Could we have held on for a victory or at least a draw. What if John Terry was a player with morals and gave the ball back to us as we kicked it out of play for them.

What if Arsenal were not cheated by a Dutch referee when he had a perfect view of Hleb being tugged to the floor at the Emirates Stadium.

What if the referee gave Ryan Babel a yellow card instead of a penalty?

We have suffered alot of bad luck this season, in other circumstances we could quite easily be in the same position as Manchester United. I see there seems to be a trend with fans turning on Arsene Wenger which I cannot agree with. This is a man who has created 2 double teams, won several Fa Cups and has got us to the Champions League final. I trust his judgment over any Arsenal supporter including myself, no matter how much they have spent on a season ticket.

Arsene Wenger knows what needs to be done in the summer and whatever it is that needs doing I trust the man to do it. In the meantime the club needs our support through a difficult period. It is easy to slag everyone off and pinpoint negatives. It seems a little more difficult to see the bigger picture.
