What is the real agenda of the media against Arsenal?

It is down to Wenger to find the right balance between being defensive enough to stop the opposition scoring goals but equally it is at least important to have enough creative attack flair in your side

Ooh I can feel it in me bones, its floating around me waters.. Fulham are going to get a right good smacking tomorrow afternoon. It is going to happen, I can see it now. Don’t mistake this for guess work, no sir-ree. This is the magical connection I have with the future. I won’t tell you now, because it will unbalance the psychic energy in the world and we don’t want that do we? I will however inform you on Saturday morning in my pre match predictions and thoughts.

Our victory against Fulham has put me in a very good mood now. ‘Pardon?’ Oh no don’t worry about it, there is no such thing as jinxing. That is just a human made up saying. It is all good. Just trust me on this one.

Right, its time to get back to the present and let me do a quick gather up of the days stories, news and interviews.

Lets go back to the Roma match (I keep being drawn back to that) Samir Nasri has been pretty impressed by the teams performance on Tuesday night.

Nasri said:

“I think the result was not too bad, even though we could have won it with a larger score, but fortunately we managed not to concede any goals. The positive ahead of the second leg is that we’ve seen a conquering Arsenal side, with a good defensive display. This is very encouraging for the challenges to come.”

It certainly was a good defensive display, it is remarkable that the team has turned it around in such a big way. It now looks like a unit who are playing to stop conceding goals, where as before you felt like they were there to contribute to our football and only doing that defending stuff when they really had to. ok, maybe I did not say it as I wanted but what I am trying to say is that the current back four (five including Manuel) are functioning very well.

It is down to Wenger to find the right balance between being defensive enough to stop the opposition scoring goals but equally it is at least important to have enough creative attack flair in your side.

Manuel Almunia was talking about exactly that.

“It’s the only good thing that we can see from these kind of games [Sunderland] when we are dropping points, we are still getting clean sheets, I think the team in general defensively are doing very well.

“We now need to find that nice balance where we are tight at the back but get the goals. It’s what a team like Manchester United has been so successful with this season, they have always been getting the clean sheet and then just managing to get the goal. They have the confidence to get that minimum one goal. We have to get that confidence back.

I tend to agree with that, Manchester United are the only team to have consistently pulled off doing well in both areas of the pitch and its no coincidence that they are sitting top of the league at present.

Cesc Fabregas has had his say on the progress on the midfielders who have come in for him during his absence.

“I’ve played with both of them, of course, and I can say they work really hard, they always give their best and are very honest players, At Arsenal there’s a lot of pressure because we are a big club but from my perspective, and from outside, I think they are doing well.

It would be interesting to know which player Cesc Fabregas would rather play alongside. It is a shame that Cesc is not around now as Denilson has taken another step up in recent weeks and the two of them could well be clicking together right now. Do not forget it takes players time to get used to each other on the match stage and they could well have been peaking round about now.

It has also been a shame for Abou Diaby, and I must say I feel very sorry for him. Many fans tend to vent their anger at injured players as if it is their own fault for it. Well it is not. A large share of blame could well be pointed at Dan Smith who savagely snapped Diaby’s ankle and he has been injury prone ever since he returned. There is no proof that the injury has played a part in his stop start progress but I wouldn’t be at all surprised.

I am sure the regular pundits around would say that Arsenal are lacking that typical English fighting, ankle breaking, foul mouthed, never say die but never not drink attitude. Who the hell is Dan Smith anyway? I hate these gutless, talent less punks who just assault other players because they cannot much their talent.

I haven’t even mentioned that horrific lunge by Kevin Nolan on the Everton forward. That was just pure nasty. What did he do to deserve that? It was much much worse than the Martin Taylor ‘tackle’ Anichebe was just much luckier. Maybe he is really the Terminator 4 with metal shins. Is it me or was that slightly brushed under the table? I watch Sky Sports News every morning and it has hardly been mentioned since. Are you telling me that if it had been Eboue then it would have been treated the same?

I was talking to a good Gooner pal of mine, and we were wondering if the truth would ever get out about why there is such an obvious blatant bias against our lovely club.

Is all this because we have a French manager and foreign players? Was Gérard Houllier treated the same way at Liverpool? Am I just being paranoid and it happens to every club? I seriously do not think so but would be very interested to know the views or theories of you readers.

Hopefully one day something will come out and tell us the truth because it is like watching a green man with an orange afro walking down the street but no one is noticing it but you (Gooners)

Going back to Diaby for a brief moment, unfortunately he will be missing the Fulham clash with yet another set back. Poor guy, just as he was running the show, unfortunately for us he is not currently the Terminator 5, we are just going to hope that his body can get stronger so it can avoid all these niggles.

We will probably revert back to Song playing alongside Denilson which is unfortunate only due to the fact that we are at home and will spend most of the match probing instead of defending. I personally think Song is very good at stopping the opposition and breaking up play, that is his strength and is the reason why he is put out on the pitch, he is not a creative player, just as you cannot ask Cesc Fabregas to play at center back. Wenger does not have many other options unless he uses an 18 year old who isn’t yet complete.

It doesn’t even matter, because as I said we win convincingly so don’t worry about who plays. I’ll tell you tomorrow to keep you happy.

Enjoy your funky Friday. Bye for now.
