Why do teams target Arsenal? / Arsene Talks / Hull Predictions

Is it me or does the go in hard and let them know you’re there only get brought up when it is against Arsenal? I cannot count many times when I have heard a manager or player say this before they visit Old Trafford

Do we play home matches still then? It appears like it was a couple of seasons ago when we beat Newcastle 3-0. Hull City are the visitors and we will clearly be the favourites to win the game. To be honest I know very little about Hull City this season so I cannot comment about how I expect them to play. I assume they will be negative and from the managers comments you can expect them to go in hard on our players as most teams try.

Is it me or does the go in hard and let them know you’re there only get brought up when it is against Arsenal? I cannot count many times when I have heard a manager or player say this before they visit Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge or Anfield. The only rough treatment I can remember is when Manchester United went to the Reebok. Was it last season? Kevin Davies (yup you guessed it) went in hard on a couple players, especially Patrice Evra. Generally the media, pundits etc do not say this about the other teams. Interesting.

Sami Nasri is still not fit for this game which is a shame because the longer he is out the longer it will take him to sharpen up. Lets hope this isn’t another Rosicky, Van Persie situation where weeks get added on to the injury time every couple of hours. Did that make sense? Anyway.

I suppose Emmanuel Eboue and Theo Walcott do not deserve to be dropped after their recent performances but what will happen against Porto on Tuesday *shit! I will have to miss playing football again*

I can assume that Wenger may want to freshen things up slightly, especially as the back up’s are in fine form as well. Having said that I can imagine Wenger starting the same team for both games. He only rotates if he needs to which is understandable as he likes to have continuity amongst the players.

Predicted Arsenal Line Up

Mean Lean Prediction

Arsenal 3 (Van Persie 3) Hull City 0

I expect Hull to sit deep, fly into tackles and try and catch us on the break I think their plan will work for the first 20 minutes to half an hour but when one goal eventually goes in which hopefully it does then I expect us to finish them off. I feel that Cesc Fabregas will be close to his best but Robin Van Persie will be the one to score either a brace or his first Arsenal hat trick. If we score 4 then Vela will come off the bench the grab his first prem goal.

What are the odds of that then? hehe

In other news Arsene Wenger has been doing a bit of chatting. Firstly and probably most disappointing is that he doesn’t have the foggiest idea of when Tomas Rosicky will return.

“I believe that all the checks we made are reassuring, but it’s difficult to say,” said the Frenchman. “It’s an inflammation that’s going on in his leg that has to settle, to calm down.”

“There’s nothing really that harms his future, but, as well nobody can tell me on the 10th of December he will play. He can be on the 31st of December, he can be on the 10th of November, nobody knows with him. In the next two months he should be back but what date, nobody knows.”

The whole point of this bloody operation was that he would be fit and ready for the season. We are missing such a talented creative player who would be a massive player in any squad in Europe. And what is worse is that we haven’t been able to see the very best of him because of his continued injury issues.

Arsene was also talking about leaving the club, well not leaving the club is more actuate.

“I was offered the chance to leave but I never considered leaving,” he said at Friday’s press conference.

“The longer I stay the more difficult it becomes to envisage leaving. But I know one thing – you have to prepare yourself.

“You have to work inside the Club like you will spend your whole life there. But as well you have to accept the idea it can stop from one minute to the next.

“But that is basically life as well – you expect to live for 100 years but you can die from one minute to the next.”

It is difficult to envisage what life will be like post Wenger. It is almost an impossible task to replace someone who has built the youth system, brought through these players and poured all his trust in them. To me, it is a situation I don’t like to play in my head until that day comes.

So the kiddies have been drawn against Wigan at home which will not be a walkover. Wigan are looking like a midtable side these days under Steve Bruce and the youngsters will have to be at their best to get through. We have to look at the positives though, it is at home and the crowd and pitch will help the kids to strut their stuff, me hopes.

Until tomorrow, I guess.
