Less than an hour and a half before we play Wigan and I am not as confident as perhaps I should be
Good afternoon,
A little later than I would have liked it to be, but hey, such is life I guess.
Less than an hour and a half before we play Wigan and I am not as confident as perhaps I should be. I mentioned it a few days ago but I have a feeling that the players will lack sharpness and perhaps a few will have fatigue after International duties. I am just happy that we are not one game on from now in the fixture list because Aston Villa away with 6 players missing and our squad not playing together since the 12th November in the 3-1 win against Reading.
Gilberto Silva has left the door wide open for him to move to Juventus. You cannot really blame the guy can you? Brazilian International captain and cannot get himself back into the team, and you would have to think at 31 years old, Arsene Wenger will not be desperate to keep him.
“Juve officials must know that I don’t want to have a war with Arsenal,” Gilberto told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“If they want me, they must talk with my club and get into serious negotiations.
“I feel disposed towards moving to Italy. I like Serie A, despite the recent events.
“Juventus are a prestigious club. They have overcome the problems that forced them to come back from Serie B.”
I have alot of respect for Bert, I have to admit a few years ago I didn’t always realise how good he really was/is. But when you watch him carefully you see the way he covers players and makes so many important blocks. He is a one of a kind in our squad but maybe Arsene is moving away from the tactical defensive player to the more physical approach of Flamini and Diarra.
Adebayor has been missing his strike partner (Robin Van Persie), infact we all have to be honest.
“I miss him a lot, of course. He is one of the main men of our team,” he told Sky Sports News.
“But at the moment he is injured, so you have to believe. That is part of football.
“I know he is passing through a lot of difficult moments, but we are out there doing the job for him.
“I think he is proud about the way we are playing at the moment. And he will be more confident when he comes back.
“I know his character, I’m not afraid. I know when he will be back it will just take him one or two weeks and he will be back scoring.”
It is a shame that Robin is out for the game today, his link play and goal threat has been missed. It would be interesting to know what would have happened against both Liverpool and Manchester United had the Dutchman been fit.
On the subject of strikers, Arsene has been impressed with our current trialist Tresor Mputu.
“He is on trial and I have to go down to test him today,” said Wenger. “He is a creative player and wants a chance in Europe. He has impressed so far.”
If we do sign him then its pretty unlikely that we will be looking for another striker for a while. Good luck to him.
My prediction for the game today will be us to win 2-0 but score the goals after 60 minutes.
