Will Arsene end signings at Ramsey and Nasri?

It looks like we already have tied up Sami Nasri (20) and Aaron Ramsey (17) which would be great business by Arsene

Good afternoon,

The saying, do not listen to what Wenger says, and pay attention to what he does is a very good saying, it is often true. Wenger will only let people know what he wants people to know and often things are said to protect the squad, the club, and himself. But sometimes he says exactly what he means.

I read a comment from him on Setanta Sports website regarding Vincent Kompany.

Wenger said:

“I have known Kompany for a long time, since he was 16,” explained the Gunners chief to Sportwereld.

“I keep following him but the story that we want him for next season is wrong.

“I know him to be very, very good but I have decided that defenders are no longer necessarily needed for next season.

“Therefore, he will not come.”

Now, I am not bothered about Kompany joining us or not, in my view he is not the type of center back we need but what I am concerned about is that Wenger said that he is not looking for another defender.

Made up? Misquoted? I sure hope so.

It looks like we already have tied up Sami Nasri (20) and Aaron Ramsey (17) which would be great business by Arsene. He continues to collect the best young talent and these two have plenty of ability. These two technical players will get better at Arsenal. Wenger was asked if he would sign a midfield player to replace Flamini and he said that he had Denilson, Diaby and Gilberto so he is not in the market for a midfielder. Wenger has also said ‘what would he do with another striker’ with the likes of Adebayor, Van Persie, Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela, Walcott all jockeying for two places upfront.

So now we do not need any defenders? That cannot be true, surely. Will Arsene end signings at Ramsey and Nasri?

At the VERY least we need cover for Clichy. Traore is not a left back at the moment at least, and like I have said for a while now I see him as a wide midfielder.

Is Wenger trying to avoid upsetting Gallas or Toure? I wouldn’t think so. He knows the team is more important than one single player. Does he think they will make it together as a partnership? If he does think that then I would ask why the break up at the end of the season?

What did Arsene mean when he said he wanted a defensive player? Holding midfielder with height and aerial ability? Zapata from Udinese? I do not know, but I would like to know. If what he says is true then I would like to know what he plans to do next season. I would hate for hard work to be undone by the same defensive errors that cost us so dearly last time around.

Apparently Athlectio Madrid are going to try and scupper the Nasri deal as they have been a big admirer of the talented French midfielder. I cannot see it to be honest. Most players would much rather work under Arsene at Arsenal than at an average Spanish team. Not to mention the fact that the deal is pretty much done (allegedly)

Barcelona have warned any team off approaching for Yaya Toure which would ease the departure of Alex Hleb. I have not seen enough of him to warrant any sort of structured opinion of him and what he could bring the team so I won’t but the tall, technical powerhouse in front of the back four could be what Arsene meant by the ‘defensive’ player to solve last seasons issues. I still think that Wenger has had 101 chances of bringing him to Arsenal and had he wanted to then he could have done so.

Sorry for the late entry today, a lot going on at the moment that should sort itself out over the next couple days or so.

Have a good one, back tomorrow at some point.
