Will returning Gunners provide new ending

Arsenal got back to winning ways after a professional 2-0 victory away in the Vitality stadium on Sunday afternoon. Arsene Wenger’s troops had not managed a win in the four Premier League, they hadn’t even managed to score a goal in the last three.
The atmosphere around the club has been somewhat down in recent weeks, understandably so too. It wouldn’t be the first time that an Arsenal squad had wiltered when heading into the business end of the season. Our recent form certainly does not make us favourites for the Premier League title. But usually those circumstances are very different. Usually in February and March the treatment room begins to fill up, games come and go with new important squad players having to limp off, Arsene Wenger then has to quickly remould his team with option of lesser quality.
I mean how many times have we witnessed the likes of Robin van Persie get ruled out for the season? or Cesc Fabregas popping a hamstring? or the times when we would lose all our options from one area of the pitch? This season is similar but different. We’ve already done the whole losing all our midfielders act, this time we have 98% of the squad returning from injury.
The team have been limping over the line in recent victories or stumbling through bad performances but that could all be about to change as Alexis Sanchez and Francis Coquelin race for full match fitness and sharpness.
Arsenal have some very tough away fixtures coming up from now until season end, fixtures that a midfield combination of Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey will not be good enough to get through. Theo Walcott on the left flank will not be enough to succeed at White Hart Lane, Old Trafford or the Etihad stadium.
Getting Alexis and Coquelin back at their best will boost this team but 30% no doubt about it, but that is not all. Danny Welbeck is back in training, he has already completed 60 minutes of an under 21 match and will be working as hard as possible to get close to the sharpness needed to compete at the highest level.
Perhaps a first team place might be unlikely at this stage of the season but how much of a benefit would it be to the manager to have that option from the bench? In a game where we need to increase energy levels or press tired defenders into mistakes.
Maybe this season is different after all, we will see once Arsenal cruise around the bend into the home straight.
