Wilshere hype now at full pace / Diaby looks up to Patrick

Good Morning Goonies

Still smiling about the Arsenal result, that turned into laughter last night but I’ll talk about that in a little bit.

The Jack Wilshere hype machine is at full pace now, well maybe not full pace. An England cap and debut goal would send it into overdrive.

The boy wonder (none of this hype is coming from me you know!) has been likened to Paul Gascoigne.

The Independent say:

He is, although at present just 5ft 7in, more akin to Paul Gascoigne, given the relish with which he runs with the ball and his distinctive style of doing so with his head up

I think his style is more Gazza than Brady to be honest. Left foot, Arsenal player from ranks = Liam Brady but I am not sure I agree.

There is England talk coming up about the boy, perhaps being promoted to the U21’s. If he isn’t going to play then I do not think it is the best thing for him at this stage. Maybe in a couple of years.

Arsene has been bigging up his young English stars.

“If Capello wants to have a good selection, he has to come to our Carling Cup games,” Wenger said on the Times Online.

“If you give me time, I will produce England players. These boys have a future.

“We have Gavin Hoyte, who had an outstanding game, Kieran Gibbs, Mark Randall, Jack Wilshere, Jay Simpson – all of them are top-class. There were also a few English players on the bench who are good as well.

“We have eight or nine players who are very impressive.

“It would be tempting to play them in the Premier League. But the pressure at that level is different.”

Class is first and foremost, there isn’t an Englishman in the country that I would rather have over the likes of Clichy and Cesc but it is always a little special having an Englishman in the squad. Theo Walcott appears to get that little extra from the crowd even during his not so good times at the club. Jack Wilshere will be worshipped for years to come at Arsenal.

Capi Willy has come out defending his position as Arsenal captain.

“I know people were talking about my leadership before the game but what I found interesting is that after we beat United everyone was saying my leadership was good,” he said.

“But for me I played the way I have been all season. In fact, I think I had a better game against Spurs a couple of weeks ago but no one mentions it.

“That’s how it is in football, though, people only look at the result and because we beat Manchester United we are getting all the praise again. That’s why I always say that at the end of the season, the only thing that will matter is whether you have won a trophy – the rest is forgotten if you can win it.”

He certainly seems to have come back a better player since his injury/rest whatever it was. He had a storming game against Manchester United. I am still yet to be convinced that he is a natural leader but performances like his last will go a long way to proving that he can do the job.

Abou Diaby has been impressive since his return from injury and now has his sights set on the national side.

“I have a desire and ambition to get back in the French team,” Diaby told Le 10 Sport.

“I know there is a lot of competition in midfield, notably from Patrick Vieira, who is my role model.

“I have a lot of things to learn from him.”

What he could take from his role model is hard work and determination. Infact he could take that from Aaron Ramsey also. Diaby has to be the unluckiest player at the club. The player infront of him in his natural position is Cesc Fabregas. Give Diaby a season in the center (fitness permitting) alongside a defensive minded player would develop Diaby into one of the best midfield players in world football.

It has become a task for the manager to try and incorporate Diaby in a team along with Cesc which has been difficult to do so far. Using 5 in midfield takes away our attacking edge, playing 4-4-2 we usually only get to see Diaby on the left wing, a position that clearly does not suit his physique.

The formation worked wonders against Manchester United and we should see it at Villa Park, would like to see it with both Rosicky and Adebayor in the side, I think it could be a great ‘hard game away from home’ formation.

That team would keep the ball better than most in the world, it would also have goals in it. I have rather unfairly left out Denilson so you could swap him from any of the central players if you so wanted.

Now before I go, lets have a chuckle.

Tuesday 11th November 2008 – Ray Wilkins:

“Playing a young or weakened team undermines the value of the competition.

“And we have not and will not do that. We want to win it, big time.”

Wednesday 12th November 2008 – Chelsea line up vs Burnley at Home

After extra time

Chelsea 1 Burnley 1 (4-5 on penalties)

You couldn’t make it up could you?! Maybe that should teach certain individuals to shut their mouths.

I want us to face the Spuds now, we need to get last season out of our system. This year the youngsters seem to have a different sprit and attitude about them. Wouldn’t it be great to beat them 6-0. Oh how I would luv it!

ok, time to go. Enjoy your day.
