Wilshere wants Adebayor and co but has tough task to get into first team

I think it is a little too early to be talking about Gibbs playing for his country, he is yet to have a long run in the first team and he will need that before anyone can really start talking about international football

And so it begins, the time is here where I have to spend a part of my day hunting around in bins and street corners for bits and pieces of Arsenal news. I don’t even have Liverpool to ridicule this afternoon. It is all pretty quiet already which is pretty depressing.

While we are on the international topic, I will use it as my chance to inform or re inform if you have already read it elsewhere (which you probably have) that Kieran Gibbs could well be selected by Fabio Capello to join the senior England squad prior to the friendly against Brazil on Saturday as Gashley Cashley is out with an injury which potentially could see him miss the Arsenal game, although I am sure like shit to your shoe you can never quite get rid of it that easily, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his annoying face on our Emirates pitch in a couple of weeks but hey, I shouldn’t let him move me away from more interesting news.

Fabio Capello said:

“He’s a really good player, really interesting for the future of the England team, but he’s young and now he has to play a really important game for the Under-21s against Portugal.”

I think it is a little too early to be talking about Gibbs playing for his country, he is yet to have a long run in the first team and he will need that before anyone can really start talking about international football. Gibbs is an outstanding prospect but right now he is still only a prospect. He still has some way before he can reach the level of Gael Clichy although I do think that Gibbs has certain aspects in his game that are probably already higher than Clichy. I can think of many Arsenal players in the last few years who have been hyped up when they first showed their faces in an Arsenal shirt only to be smacked back down by impatient Arsenal fans. Do you remember a young 17 year old Brazilian who played against Tottenham in the Carling cup only to be ridiculed as a player who can only pass backwards and sideways strangely missing the fact that he assisted more than most in our team last season.

It would only take a few mistakes from the young man before we need to go and spend x amount on a new left back and Gibbs cannot do this and that.

Speaking on the youngsters, Jack Wilshere is looking forward to the next round of the Carling Cup and he also believes that his young team mates can go all the way this time.

Wilshere said:

“I picked up my injury in training but I should be back for the Manchester City game. It was frustrating to miss the Liverpool game but it was good to see players like Craig Eastmond come into the side and do well. If people are injured there are always youngsters who can step up and do a job.

“It will be good to play against Manchester City and I hope they play a full team. We will go there and believe we can win and hopefully we can. I think now we are into the last eight it is realistic for us to win the trophy. I think we can beat Manchester City and if we do then the competition will be wide open. We can go all the way.”

You have to love the confidence on the young lad. This season has been so positive that I had almost forgotten about how good Jack Wilshere can be. It will be just great if City field their strongest team and lose to us at their own ground. The way they are currently playing it wouldn’t be impossible.

It is certainly the kind of game that will show Arsene which players can swim in the rough waters of the Premier League. Jack will almost certainly be one of those players but with our offence looking so strong it will be difficult for a player who is yet to fully develop to get much game time right now. When he is fit, I hope he manages to get 15 minutes here and there at the end of games.

Well done to Nicklas Bendtner for winning the Danish player of the year, his came across very mature in his comments.

“It is an immensely great honour to be awarded Player of the Year by the fans,” said Bendtner.

“I want to thank all those fans who voted for me. I would also like to thank my parents who have believed in me all the time, and I wish to thank my coaches and my team-mates who made this possible for me.”

Lets hope he gets back to football soon because he was looking impressive against the inferiors before he hobbled off.

Right, that is enough for now. Back tomorrow.
