Would usual midfield positions made a difference at Old Trafford?

Many predicted those players to turn out but most would have assumed that they would have played in the positions that they have for 80% of the season

I cannot remember a time where I was this uninterested in an Arsenal match. The last time I can think of was against the very same opposition in the last game of the season, we had Baptista and Aliadiere as our front pairing and we drew 0-0. This time my focus is 99% on the Tuesday game (the 1% is probably Arshavin playing again)

I won’t be at all surprised if we lose the game on the weekend. It will be very difficult for players to go into challenges 100%, running themselves into the ground and giving everything.

A victory would give us confidence and confidence is something we will need after our showing at Old Trafford.

Much has been made of our performance at OT, most of the post match talk has been about the positions of the players. I must say, it seems a little odd to start experimenting with players on such a big stage.

I would love to actually know what Arsene’s thoughts are on his choices.

It is not often that many fans are united (sorry for the use of that word) regarding the personnel on the pitch. Many predicted those players to turn out but most would have assumed that they would have played in the positions that they have for 80% of the season.

I can understand the Nasri in central midfield if you have a natural left sided footballer such as Arshavin. I am still struggling with Cesc behind the front man when Nasri looks more comfortable there. Abou Diaby has had plenty of criticism this season but when a tall driving midfielder is stuck on the wing he will be unlikely to make a positive contribution.

Wouldn’t it be interesting knowing what we know, to rewind the clock and play that game again with.

Having said that, I wouldn’t want to give Manchester United another go in converting chances. They were the much better team on the day and it could have been much worse than 1-0 by half time.

To make matters worse, we have Eduardo and Silvestre out for the weekend. Hopefully Djourou will be ready to play and retain his place against Manchester United.

Got to make this one short today as I have many things I need to achieve before the end of play. Manchester United prev I mean, Portsmouth Preview tomorrow.
