One thing is future monsieur Wenger is consistent consistently in his excuses every season. Same excuses every season yet monsieur Wenger never plans for them. There is always an excuse of some sort every season injuries blah blah blah no wonder those comedians at Talksport mock arsenal. Wenger has forgot how to be a winner he thinks he can keep hiding behind these excuses and figures forever every season for over 6 years. I tell you next season will be his last if he tries it again most Arsenal fans are fed up. Its like Arsenal is on replay every season like a Poirot episode in which he never solved the murder, in this case the Professor Wenger still pondering on how to win silverware making the same mistakes consistently. I think he is scared to spend big because he knows pressure to deliver a title will be on him then so he prefers to stay comfortable behind figures. He really needs to step up this summer or else.

Here’s how 2012/13 season will play out; In the summer transfer window Arsenal gets linked to some big players. Wenger comes out and plays it down, dithers around it, pretends we really in for those players very evasively though. Through out the all transfer period he dithers and answers very evasively. Then towards the end claims we will only sign players with in our means and before you know it on the last day he signs another average player like Chamakh (Lukas Podolski) maybe another promising youngster like Ryo Miyaichi (Carlos Fierro/Luis Murieland).

Season fully on the way window shut. Then come the excuses, he starts his talk of injuries and how he believes in the squad through out the all first half of the season as they get beat by reading and Southampton. Lukas Podolski struggles to settle or has a decent start with a couple of goals then dips after. RVP has enough rumors circulate in the media he wants a move to Barcelona and before you know it his gone in January, Wenger panic buys again in comes Lucas Barrios.

I hope i am wrong this season and Arsenal does become the Barcelona it has always half heartedly tried to be under Wenger. Either way an end has to come to this replay and if that means Wenger has to go then so be it however much i love monsieur Wenger. Au Revoir

Mean Lean’s Response

Thank you Jay Gunz for the point of view but I have to say I have no idea how to go about responding to your thoughts. We all have opinions about Arsenal, where we are, how we got here and the reasons as to why other teams have been further ahead of us but in your case, you have not included any reasoned arguments that may support your views.

I do not understand the much parroted ‘excuses’ line. What does this mean? If a striker is clean through on goal, rounds the keeper and is about to tap it into an empty net and then a covering defender breaks the strikers leg before he is about to score. Does the striker explaining the reasons of not being able to score in that game class as an excuse? Is he excuse making for not scoring that chance or perhaps it is a reason as to why he hasn’t scored.

Why do you think Arsene Wenger is scared to spend big? Why would a manager have the opportunity to buy a better player that he wants only to say ‘no thanks, I am scared of buying that quality player I want, so I will be un-scared and buy a cheaper option (within my price range)’

‘Dithering’ and ‘Dithers’ in the transfer market is another much parroted phrase that has now passed as some sort of fact. Until I have actual evidence of Arsene Wenger shaking back and forth, trembling and ‘dithering’ then I will treat it with the usual stuff that spread and gets copied from fan to fan. I can think of so many signings that has happened early in transfer windows. In recent times, Vermaelen, Sagna, Gervinho, Nasri, Rosicky, Koscielny and many, many more all signed in time for pre seasons gone by. Why was dithering taken out of these equations? The truth is we do not know what players are available and when they are available. There are so many stages of a transfer that I am sure you do not take into account, much is out of the hands of a manager. This is not to absolve our manager of any blame at any point, I am sure we have missed out on quality players over years that was probably his fault, I am sure I can say the same for all the best managers in world football.

Since the Premier League began back in 1992 these are the clubs who have managed to win the title. Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea and Manchester United. What are the excuses of all the other clubs and many managers for not having one it?

Before I go, apologies for missing out on the blog today. Have only just found the time to sit down and catch up on the Arsenal. I cannot think of a time where I have gone from the morning until the night with only checking Twitter and the newsfeeds about twice in that time.

Congratulations Robin van Persie, you deserve it pal. Will write something tomorrow no doubt, plenty to catch up on. I am sure many will agree and disagree with both of our views and I would love to know your thoughts in the comments. The only thing I ask is that you be respectful and courteous.

Back tomorrow.
