YourVision – Disillusioned with Arsenal at present
The lack of noise being made by the supporters in order to cheer the team on. How many Arsenal games have you been to or have watched in the past, where we, the supporters have helped the team to get back into a game with our support?

I am starting to become a bit disillusioned with this Arsenal team at the moment. Although I wrote an article on Your Vision last month titled Crisis, where I stated that we, as Arsenal supporters have to get behind the team more than ever in our current crisis (which I have done and will continue to do), I have only seen minor improvements being made to the team & quite frankly, this is not good enough.
The minor improvements which I feel have been made to the team are as follows
• Wenger replacing Gallas with Fabregas as captain.
• Employing a defensive midfielder (Song) next to Fabregas. This has allowed Fabregas to concentrate more on his attacking play.
• Installing Djourou into the defence to play alongside Gallas, which has seen our defence become a bit more solid. However that’s where I feel the improvements have ended.
The issues which I feel have made me (and a number of fans become a bit disillusioned with the club at present) are as follows:
• Wenger continuing to play central midfielders on the wings, when Rosicky, Nasri & Walcott are injured. Why not play Wilshire and Vela respectively on the wings if Walcott & Nasri are both injured? At least these positions are natural to them & they would provide pace, width & crosses to the team, which we are desperately lacking at present.
• Wenger not giving Diaby a run in central midfield. Diaby is wasted on the left wing and I feel if Wenger continues to play him there, he will ruin Diaby’s potential as a tremendous attacking central midfielder in the making.
• The booing of players conducted by certain so called Arsenal supporters on the likes of Bendtner, Denilson, Song, Gallas and most recently Eboue at the league game at Wigan (which was absolutely disgraceful).
• The inconsistent of the team. How can they raise their game against the likes of Man United & Chelsea, yet be less motivated to play the likes of Stoke, Fulham & Hull? (After the Hull game, Toure came out & said that the players were scared to play Hull. An absolutely shocking admission from him).
• The Arsenal board, who I feel are happy with the team finishing either third or fourth until we have completed the sales of the flats at Highbury Square. A bit more pressure needs to be implied by the board towards Arsene Wenger in order to ensure that the team finish in the top 2 slots of the Premiership (minimum requirement). Finishing third or fourth is not good enough for a club of our stature. It would be nice for the players to have an extra week’s rest in the summer, instead of returning early to prepare for a qualifying game for the Champions League, which we have been doing since the end of the 2005/06 season.
• The lack of noise being made by the supporters in order to cheer the team on. How many Arsenal games have you been to or have watched in the past, where we, the supporters have helped the team to get back into a game with our support?
• Not signing a better goalkeeper instead of Almunia, tall centre-half (Silvestre is ok, but surely we could’ve done better than him), defensive midfielder & an additional winger alongside Nasri in the summer.
As I write, we currently lie fifth in the table, eight points behind Liverpool (at the time of article). Do I still think we can win the league? Yes (even after losing five games), however we need to stop being inconsistent, Wenger NEEDS to buy three players in the January window (I can’t see Wenger bringing in a new goalkeeper, so he has to bring in a centre-half, defensive midfielder & a winger, who could play on both wings as a matter of urgency), the booing of players in the squad has to be stopped by certain supporters of the club & most importantly, we the supporters, need to get behind this team & cheer them on to the rafters. Only then will the disillusionment amongst a number of the supporters at the moment will disappear.
