AC Milan a club in meltdown ?

Notizie del mondo (News of the World – Italian version) has reported today that there is a storm brewing in the Milan dressing room. After this weekend’s humiliating loss to their city rivals, the club is now going through critical times.

The booing and outrage by the Milan fans as their players left the pitch after a 2-1 loss to Inter is maybe just the smallest of Carlo Ancelotti’s worries.

The club has failed to win any domestic trophy since 2004–05, and the Rossoneri had to painfully watch Inter dominate the domestic stage for the past 4 years.

To add to the pot of worries, Carlo Ancelotti has been seriously linked with Chelsea and Man City. There are also signs that Milan fans are starting to complain about the club transfer policy. Adriano Galliani said to that Ancelotti has £90m in transfer funds to strengthen the team, but the Milan faithful already know that Carlo will now step out of his way and invest in young players.

Ancelotti has talked about his methods briefly to il Sole (the sun) newspaper after he disappointed the fans in the recent transfer window: “I do not like to invest in young and unexperienced players. I believe we have enough quality and resilience within the team and I only buy if i find the right 30 yr old veteran at the right pensionable price”.

Most Milan fans would like Ancelotti to sign 3 young defenders, a keeper, 2 U25 midfielders, and an U21 striker. Young players are needed because it is a known fact that you can not win anything with mummified footballers, Milan needs an injection of wasteful clumsy youth in their team to replace the ageing legs of 9 of their starting 11 players.

However, it seems this coming summer is going to be a bumpy ride for Milan. It is believed that Real Madrid are planning a £40m deal to prize Pato and Flamini. Barcelona want Kaka, while Gourcuff has been delaying any contract talks and could leave this summer for free.

The club also faces financial meltdown as they could miss out on a Champions League place. Fiorentina and Genoa are chasing the last european spot and have caused Milan lots of problems and it seems it will be another trophyless year for Dad Ancelotti’s army.

P.S. This is a mock artcile that I thought about after watching Inter vs Milan a few days ago. I hope it shows to my fellow pessimistic gooners how pathetic tabloid newspapers can be.

And although Milan were being completely dominated by Inter during most of the game, although their average squad age was 59, and although they are in serious financial problems (thanks to Berlusconi’s dodgy business), and although they have missed the CL last year and are looking to miss it yet again this year, etc ………….. Alan Hansen was praising their current team and manager, and he did not use the word ‘imploding’.
