Adebayor has received a lot of stick this year. He is a frustrating player. He messes up the simple, and has sometimes shown an unwillingness to link well with other players, notably Eduardo. If you read some of the footy blogs, he is just one notch below Christopher Wreh and Franny Jeffers as one of the worst Arsenal strikers ever.

Why then is it that Arsenal never lose when Adebayor scores? Many of those goals are match-winners or point-securing too. It is an amazing statistic too. In something like 22 games in which he scored we did not lose. In the majority of those we won. Why is that?

Let’s hark back to the Henry period. Henry made scoring look easy. He was the exact contrast to Adebayor. Even though they both seem to need many misses to get goals, when Henry did score his goals looked effortless. Almost as if he could have bagged them in his sleep. But he was also criticised for disappearing in important games.

It could have been because he was so prolific, but it was never really said of Henry that Arsenal never lose when he scored.

Why do we never lose when Adebayor scores? Does anybody have a theory?
