After the result against Spurs I am convinced that arsenal will not win the title this season.I hope i am proved wrong but i really dont think we can do it this season.I was totally baffled by wenger’s decision to let flamini leave and even more baffled when he did not buy a replacement. The fact that he made late attempts to sign Alonoso and Mbia suggests that he did not have enough faith in the likes of denilson and song.If he knew that he really should not have waited till the last moment to sign a defensive midfielder.

Another situation was where modric made a run from his own half till our box without being challenged.Positional sense is the most important feature about a defensive midfeilder.The likes of makelele and gilberto had exceptional positional sense.Denilson isnt exactly a defensive midfielder.Song is but he is too slow and his positioning isnt that great either. They will probably really improve in 2 to 3 seasons but are arsenal fans ready to go another 3 seasons trophyless?Arsene wenger is a really stubborn manager.The biggest example being last season where he kept using eboue inspite him playing poorly match after match.

I am not asking wenger to break the bank and go buy a bunch of superstars.But if there is position where we badly need a player he should out and spend the money.I feel arsenal has an excellent squad this season.Up front we have 5 to 6 world class strikers.We have enough options in midfield as far as attacking is concerned.We are pretty solid at the back as well provided wenger plays the right players.Its just this one position that is really hurting us.If u compare our def midfield option to our 3 rivals we dont stand a chance. Mascherano,alonso,essien,mikel,hargreaves are outstanding players and denilson and song are not in the same league. They probably will in a few years time.But again i ask whether we are ready to go another few seasons trophyless.For now i am just praying that we will be still in contention for the premier league when the january transfer market opens and wenger will purchase a world class defensive midfielder.
