Football With the Flu, or How I Survived Being Confined to Bed for a Week

Yeey, winter is finally here! There is snow (not), and ice (not), and the winter holidays (which are over)! And cold, and wet, and generally a time when my immune system tends to go on vacation, leaving me with a runny nose quite often. This week I'm once again confined to bed, with a fever and some home remedies on my side. Unfortunately this means that the women in my life (mom, in-law and wife) don't let me take off to the game. What should I do? Watching the game on the telly is the closest thing I get to going out, but even that is far from being the real thing. Not to mention that there are times when no games worthy of mention are on. Reading about it is a bit better, but still not enough to give me a fix. What now, what now? While preparing a blog post (I do that from time to time) I've set out to find some trivia on the greatest football stars of the past. Imagine my surprise when one of my searches pointed me to a place called the Royal Vegas Casino. As it turns out, it's a real money gaming venue - not unlike DoubleDown, my favorite game on my phone. Royal Vegas Casino Canada offers games like Football Star, and other slot machines. In short - it has both things I love in one place. First of all, let me introduce you to my new favorite game. Football Star was launched at the Canadian Royal Vegas Casino in 2014, a few days before the FIFA World Cup. Without a doubt, the goal of the venue was to ride the wave with this new game. But it has stood the test of time - right now Football Star is among the most played games at Royal Vegas. What makes it interesting for me is that it doesn't focus on a single team. It could have - the developer behind it is based in the Isle of Man, which has its own league to get inspiration from. Instead, the game is inspired by - and paying a tribute to - the game itself. And it does it in a way that's worth a mention or two. First of all, it makes me feel like being at the stadium. Its background images and sounds lend it a look and feel that's similar to what you might experience when sitting on the bleachers - without the whole "going out into the cold with the flu" thing. Second, it even has quite some action you might see during a game, which makes it my new best friend - at least until my bed confinement ends. Because then it will be back to the game with me, for sure.
